Bantwal: B C Road Returns to Normalcy, Sec 144 to Continue

Bantwal, Dec 29: The tense situation appears to be coming back to normalcy. Police are taking suspects into custody, and according to sources from Bantwal about 60 suspects have been arrested. Schools are open and private and KSRTC buses are plying, though section 144 has not been lifted yet.
Police personnel have been deployed at the sensitive areas in large numbers. No major violence has been reported from any of the tension-hit areas, and police have prevented people from moving in groups. For further safety, ASP of Puttur has been directed to camp in the area.
The sources confirmed that about 30 people have fled under the fear that they may be sent behind bars, but the source have not confirmed the names of those who fled.
Some shops have still not resumed business for fear of fresh trouble and the whole region has been kept on high alert. Section 144 will continue till 6 am on Sunday December 30.
Mangalore: 7 Injured in B C Road Clash; Stone Pelting Reported in City

Mangalore, Dec 29: Some incidents of stone-pelting have been reported in city following incidents of violence that hit B C Road earlier on December 28. A bus was damaged near St Agnes College in the evening. Meanwhile, the some miscreants pelted stones to a shop at Falnir.
Confirmed sources informed that a total of 7 persons have been injured and three shops have been set on fire and another three shops damaged at B C Road on Friday December 28, owing to communal riot.
Contrary to initial reports, it has now been confirmed that the cause for the clash was illegal sale of beef in B C Road town. Later, a group hacked a rickshaw driver here in connection to the issue.
Tight police security has been deployed and senior police officers have reached the spot.

Mangalore, Dec 28: Incidents of violence and stone-pelting at buses have occured at B C Road here, as per initial reports reaching Daijiworld office.
A clash between two groups erupted at around 2.30 pm regarding illegal transportation of cattle. The miscreants damaged several shops in B C Road and Kaikamba. Two people are said to have been injured.
To disperse the crowd police resorted to lathi charge. At present the situation is tense, though under control.
Puttur assistant superintendent of police Harsha P S and circle inspector Lingappa Bangera are monitoring the situation. Additional police force has also been deployed.
Buses passing through B C Road have been detained and presently buses going to Padil, Arkala and Volachil have also been stopped. Buses plying to Bangalore have also been affected.
