India trashes Pak media report on surgical strike

New Delhi, Oct 14 (PTI): India today termed as "concocted and baseless" a report in Pakistani media that Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar in a meeting with German Ambassador in New Delhi had admitted there was no surgical strike.

Strongly reacting to the story in Pakistan's The News International titled 'Indian FS admits surgical strikes was a bluff', External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said it is "completely concocted and baseless".

The German Ambassador, Martin Ney, was in the group of foreign envoys briefed by the Foreign Secretary on September 29 on the surgical strikes. They have had no further conversation since on this subject, Swarup said.

In its report today, The News International citing a source claimed that "the Indian Foreign Secretary has categorically denied and said that there was no 'surgical strike' undertaken by Indian Army" in PoK.

I beg to differ Anirudh P. First and foremost, surgical strike is a covert operation which should have been kept confidential. If it was kept has a secret, there would not have been any hungama that is going on now in India as well as in Pakistan. Why the government banged its chest advertising what they did? Military never advertises covert operation however, they do inform the world if the operation is open and in the knowledge of public. I think, the fault lies in the current governments' penchant for publicity. It is bound to miss-fire. What is the point of telling the public that surgical attack details is not for public to know or view? Also, why anyone wants to take credit from such attack? Why have we chosen the government? Is it not to take suitable action to protect the citizens of India? In fact, the government took too long to attack the terrorists. This is only the view of a concerned citizen who voted in favor of current government.

I don't see any harm in disclosing surgical strikes. Having said that publishing the video of such operation is harmful for the security of nation.

There was no chest thumping from Govt. It is opposition parties which are in a state of shock are seeing anything spoken by Govt as chest thumping.

Are you aware that those birthday visit and saree gift has perfectly worked in favor of India ?

Due to those visits and gifts, International community is of the opinion that, Indian Prime Minister has tried every option for peace with Pakistan for first two years and in turn Pakistan back stabbed India. Because of this we got support from all over the world after the surgical strikes. International community has understood our position and most of them said that India has the right to self-defense.

I know you don’t support Pakistan. But your statements look like so……
I know you hate Modi. In democracy you have every right to do so for your own reasons. But when it comes to national interest, we should ensure that we do not end up with talking in same voice that of our enemy country.

Ever since BJP has come into power these type of media hypes and chest thumping at the expense of state resources and assets gone way out of control. BJP has nothing to boast about. They gain popularity for vote bank politics by copying previous government's policies and ventures which were done without boasting.

Exactly. If not for Khujriwal and Congi stooges , no one would have questioned the Surgical strikes after India Army made an official Press release. Pakistanis will keep on living in their pigeon hole and will not see beyond what they want to see. Typical Frogs in a well syndrome!!!!

Some time back a gentleman (I think it’s Ramesh) in this forum justified the ruling party’s claim of credit for the surgical strikes saying ‘ The army can’t fire a single shot without government’s nod’ . Now instead of unnecessary emotional outburst, do some logical thinking and ask yourself ‘can the army issue a press release sans government’s nod?’
