Mangalore: DK Police Issue Guidelines for New Year Celebration

Mangalore, Dec 31: The Dakshina Kannada police have issued certain measures to check any unwanted and unwarranted situation during the much-expected New Year bash in the district. Special security has been arranged and extra check-posts too have been opened in several places in order to check the vehicles and also to stop driving under the influence of liquor.  Along with this following guidelines too have been issued for a peaceful and fruitful New Year celebration.

  • People using sound system in open and public space are required to take suitable permission from the authorities.
  • Sound system in public places should be stopped within the specified time limits.
  • Those who are celebrating New Year in a grand way can be strolling on a beach or any parks around the city only till 11 pm and all public functions and other celebrations should be wound up by 12.30 am.
  • No one is allowed to dance or behave in objectionable manner to the tunes of any derogatory or abusive songs.
  • Not to celebrate New Year in a way that hurts any religion or caste, senior citizens etc.
  • Organizers and participants of New Year party should take utmost care while using firecrackers in public places and also to avoid firecrackers in residential areas late in the night.
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol has been strictly barred and anyone driving recklessly would be dealt ruthlessly.
  • None of the two-wheeler riders are allowed to take 3 or more persons on their vehicle for any reasons.
