Mangalore: Vaidehi to Grace 'Kavita Fest' on Jan 12

Mangalore, Jan 1: ‘Kavita Fest’ organized by Kavita Trust will be held on Saturday January 12 at St Aloysius College IT Auditorium (Eric Mathias Hall).    The poetry fest is open to all irrespective of any language.

Vaidehi, eminent Kannada poet will be the chief guest and will deliver the key note address on the occasion.  Yousuf Abdul Sheikh, senior Konkani poet would lead the multi-linguist poets' session, which is being attended by poets from Konkani, Kannada, Tulu and Beary languages.

Konkani poets Kishu Barkoor, Stephen Quadros, Avina Miyar, Melvyn Rodrigues, Elyer Taccode (Lloyd Taccode), Kannada poets Dr Kavita Rai, Jyoti Guruprasad, Tulu poets Dr Ganesh Amin, Catharine Rodrigues, Beary poets, Mohammed Baddoor, Basheer Ahmed, will be attending the poets conference.

Prizes will be distributed to the winners of All India children’s poetry competitions on the same occasion.  Over fifty children from Goa and Karnataka have sent their poems for the poetry competition.

Maxim Lobo's maiden book Ankri and ‘Kovllea Pavlanchim Novlam’, an anthology of poems edited by Melvyn Rodrigues will be released on the occasion.
