New Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS): Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday was joined by leaders of the Shiv Sena, National Conference and Aam Aadmi Party in a march to Rashtrapati Bhavan to protest against the problems caused to people over the government's demonetisation move.

The leaders are to present a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee over their demands concerning the decision to demonetise 500 and 1,000 rupee notes.

About 40 MPs took part in the march.

Shiv Sena MP Anandrao Adsul said they were not against the decision to demonetise currency but at the way it had been implemented.

"We are not against the decision but the way it has been implemented. On that we are supporting Trinamool Congress. The decision should have been implemented with proper preparations," Adsul told IANS.

The government had on Nov 8 announced its decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, leading to huge queues outside banks and ATMs to exchange the banned notes, deposit them, or withdraw currency that is legal tender.
