PM Modi may speak in Rajya Sabha , his ministers hold talks with Opposition to end logjam

New Delhi, Nov 23 (Agencies) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to speak in Rajya Sabha on Thursday, said BJP leader and Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.

This comes after the Prime Minister's brief appearance in Lok Sabha today was criticised by the Opposition, which alleged that the PM was not open to discussion on the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.

In the ongoing Winter Session, Thursday is earmarked for the Prime Minister's Office, wherein any senior representative can reply to queries on behalf of the Prime Minister. However, it is widely believed that the Prime Minister himself will be present to answer questions.

ATTEMPT TO BREAK STALEMATE

Till now, the government seems to have put up a brave face even as the Opposition has not allowed the House to function since the winter session began on November 16.

However, the government is now reaching out to the Opposition to break the Parliament logjam. Senior ministers from the Cabinet today held backdoor talks with Opposition leaders to arrive at a consensus on demonetisation. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu are believed to have tried to pacify the Opposition.

Two rounds of meetings were held today between the Lok Sabha Speaker, government and the Opposition to discuss the demonetisation issue. Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said that his party wanted a debate on the issue under Rule 56 that entails voting on the issue.
The government, however, is ready to debate on demonetisation under Rule 193, which does not entail voting. The government and the Opposition have not been able to reach a middle ground on this. According to reports, Rajnath Singh is likely to meet all-party floor leaders on Thursday at 10 am.

Bhakt's are knowingly expressing fake opinion to bail out/rescue their leader who caused havoc across Hindustan, Despite knowing the irreparable damage caused to the economy both at the macro & micro level.
Above all the damage caused to the poor citizens is just unthinkable (the teary conditions of poor labors, street vendors, daily wage construction workers)

Corrupt people & black(un-accounted) money hoarders may be just 1% of Hindustan's population (For sure they include self proclaimed patriots who support the present day ruling govt at the center), but what is the rationale behind govt action which caused misery to the middle & poor class hindustani's.

It is not the question of losing money.....It is the question of showing favourism to political parties, business friend / partners, friends and relatives....Dont u feel that BIG fishes have escaped and have taken undue advantage ... It is the question of FAIRNESS in the implementation of this scheme ....We wanted to see EVERY black money holder is targetted, which has not happened,, like the promise of bringing black money within 100 days ,,,,

He brought all the black money from Swiss Bank and blind Bhakts shouted wah wah Modi, Har Har Modi. Now, the same master is asking 50 days to change India. Bhakts again shouting wah wah Modi, Har har Modi. Blind Bhakti is truly appreciable. God save India.

If finally he comes to RS, which is very doubtful, I'd rather he continued his Maunavritham that he was observing in LS. He's good at monologue, combined with theatrics he can impress the masses. But when it comes to dialogue/debate he's sure to cut a sorry figure in a jiffy due to lack of substance.

In a Democracy the P.M is answerable for his own blunders and in all righteousness he should take responsibility for all those 60 deaths and resign for this economic disaster.

Please note: A Democracy is a lot different from the autocracy shown in shakhas.

Those good for nothing opposition parties want people like you to do this exact thing, i.e , spread lies. Dont forget that you are used as a tool by them, while they benefit from it.

Modi had promised the moon to its voters before elections. Unfortunately, nothing could be achieved, be it getting black money from swiss in 100 days....Generating employment. ...curbing commodity prices ...and so on.. may be this exercise is to score brownie points.

The way this is implemented exposes their poor wisdom and immaturity. Millions of people are being treated as if they are thieves while bjp walas live like kings.

some people are now saying - i support demonetization but the process could have been better without causing too much inconvenience.

I want to ask such people what you want? you people want corruption to be reduced, black money to be taxed ... and you people want this to happen without too much inconvenience.

if the people who fought for the independence would have thought the same would there be independence?

The people who are complaining the most are the once who have stash of black money themselves.

And in regards to GDP growth... I would forego 6% of projected 7.5% GDP if it means a drastic reduction in corruption and taxation of all unaccounted money which will help betterment of the country in the long run.

Experts believe 1.5 lakh crore loss to our GDP due to cash crunch. This estimate is based on the fact that economy will grow at 5% instead of earlier projected 7.2%. Rupee is hitting new low against dollar everyday.
Too much PR is too bad, your this PR step is proving costly to all of us. I support demonetization, but the way it is handled is a total mess.

At times there is course correction in stock markets. People lose lakhs of crore money. The markets rebound with renewed vigour same will happen with our economy. There will be some pitfalls, but that should not make us status quoists.

I agree we should not very resistant to change. It's true people have lost money during the market correction. It's true many time Markets have come up later, there are many instances where it has not at all come up. Let's not forget how soviet doomed because of demonetization.
My point is current loss could have been reduced. We had the fastest growing GDP, we raced ahead of China we could have kept up our momentum. I am very much convinced that this is a decision taken keeping UP election in mind.

Please understand that we are in computer age. we should not compare demonetisation decades ago. banks had huge ledger books then. we could not collate data of citizens. remeber we could even file our income tax returns without a PAN Card. this time round we can gather lot of data for analyis. There are data mining tools available. escape routes are gradually reducing. the people who pay income tax in India is hardly 2%. there are rich traders, agriculturists, including some road side vendors who are super rich. these people used parallel cash economy to run their business. this hurts an honest tax payer. lot of black money was being used for crime & antinational activities. All in all it is a vry good move. it will pave way for gradual digital money where transactions can be traced to the transactors.

Modi will speak in a opportune time. When he speaks he will use best of his oratory, that will make the opposition crumble.
It happened before and it will happen again.

The point however, is demonitisation good or bad, in prevailing conditions in the country? Does it achieve any of the objective, which Modi spoke of in national address? The answer is no.

Even the fanatical Modi supporters in digital media, grudgingly agree - corruption and black money will continue to florish and prevail in future as well. So, what is the achievement? Is it getting extra burden of 15,000crore on replacement of currency logistics on people?

Again reports say 21,000crore money in Jan Dhan accounts. So, it has to be of a poor man who went to exchange his old notes to new along with black money holder
who got dummy accounts to convert black to white. Both will withdraw them shortly. Is it an achievement of any kind, with a back breaking cost to pay? Who it serves - Mallya's and Adhani loan write off's?

It is easy to prey on vulnerable section showing them fools paradise. They will learn lesson only after they get hit. L & T, laid off 14000 jobs in India, is it any indicator of development? No one can change anyone's faith in anything. But, end of the day, after a few years, people will realise, yea - we called sane voices as insane & dismissed it without even giving it a thought.

In a parliamentary Democracy like England and India the Parliament is Supreme. It is the tradition & practice that the each member of the opposition should be asking questions to Prime Minister and Prime minister has to reply for each question with a answer. It is done in England, Canada, Australia and all Parliamentary democracies around the world, Our current prime minister is a good orator and I am wondering Why he is not answering questions from the opposition directly. Debate in the parliament is the corner stone of Parliamentary Democracy.
