PM Modi slams critics of demonetisation, says they did not get time to prepare

New Delhi, Nov 25 (PTI): Hitting out at those accusing the government of not being prepared for demonetisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said they are actually pained that they themselves did not get time to make any preparation.

Had these people got even 72 hours, they would have lavished praise, he said a day after the opposition launched a massive attack on the government over the issue.

Speaking at a book launch event here, Modi said there has been little criticism of the demonetisation decision.

"But still some people are criticising saying that the government did not make ample preparation. I think that is not the issue that the government did not make ample preparation. I think the pain of such people is that the government did not not give a chance to make any preparation," Modi said.

"If these people had got 72 hours to make their preparation then they would have lavished praise that there is no one like Modi," he stressed.

The Prime Minister observed that these days the country is fighting a big battle against corruption and black money and the ordinary citizen is the "soldier" in this fight.

In the last 70 years those who have misused the laws and Constitution have mired the country in corruption, he said.

Noting that India's name features prominently in global corruption surveys which is not something to be proud of, he said, "To hold the nation's head high some decisions have to be taken."

The Prime Minister's comments come in the backdrop of opposition attack in Parliament on demonetisation with former PM Manmohan Singh saying the step was "a case of organised loot and legalised plunder" and reflected a "monumental management failure".

None of the top Economists of the world is supporting this weird idea the news medias around the world are laughing. But, for the great Economists of the BJP/RSS, they found the solution too fast and implemented in a hurry. See the effect upon the GDP, employment, suicides, poverty, consumer spending, real estate and big ticket items sales etc etc.

If congress blaming Modi then congress itself is reason for modi.
We gave u 5 year for UPA 1
    U achieved only in scams
Still, people forgot and gave another chance.
U beat all records of scams again.
Congress thought people have no brain and will elect them again.
People didn't have any other option when choosing Modi.
So let him work for 5 years.
If he fail, people will not give any excuse.
Keep all ur 500 and 1000 note with u Gandhi family. If Modi fails, u can come back to power and cancel demonetisation and make all ur black money to white.

To punish the 1% corrupt (not sure whether they suffered in the process or not) 99% poor, common man, middle class families, women & children, daily wage labors, street vendors are suffering like anything.., the teary eyes & face of these down trodden speaks millions.

As our rightly said by former RBI governor, economist & ex-honorable PM of Hindustan Shriman Manmohan sing that -demonitisation is nothing but a legally organized crime.

For just expressing the biting truth & reality I may be potentially called as anti-national..,
But to my wonder & comfort I must consider the definition of Anti-nationalist nothing but an expression by an intolerants who can't digest the reality & the truth.

Citizens are not against demonetization. Looking at the things, even now after 16 days, PM is not accepting the fact that proper homework was not done. People's complaint is an apple and PM is beating around an orange.

It is very clear. Dr MM Singh did nothing while he was in power, instead he allowed large-scale corruption in every sector and now when he talks like this it is like devil quoting scripture! There is no doubt that only those who have unaccounted money are afraid and panic of demonetization. Also, funding of terrorists and separatists is only through cash and by this single act all those activities were stopped one go. We all must unite in this endeavour of the government to clean the economic system .

Demonetisation's intent was very good. But banking system is not equipped with operational logistics to ute the plan .Recalibration exercise is a huge process. Income tax laws need to be changed to impose penalty. Govt objective was minimum government and maximum governance, but now it is everywhere govt harassing imposing fear sense .Unorganised and poor peasants have to pay the price.

Yes they did not get time to be prepare!!!but prepartion for some people was planned well in advance. Please answer why they was a huge surge in deposits in septemeber over august. The deposit is to the tune of 4.8 lak crore which is 30% of the cash in circulation. This is the official RBI data. please investigate all deposits from 15nth august. Also you.
    2) The total cost is 1.5 lak crore for demonetization again this could have been used to deposit 10k in each jan dhan account.
    3) rabi sowing has impacted millions of farmers and down by 50% how can you compenstae these farmers.
    4) 40 million temp laboureres in surat , tirupaur, tea and other industries are out of job since this has happened and please let them know how they will be compensated
But one of the biggest benefit we have seen is people now in India know what ques are and ques are really discplined it will now be called madique !!!

Yeah, Manmohan singh was very clever hence numerous scams took place right under his nose, RaGA tore MMS proposal in a press conference and all the while he kept quiet. Eventually the public showed him the right place in May 2014 as the Grand Old party was reduced to 44. And now he reads out a scripted speech & supporters of Janardhana Baazigar Poojari are all singing praises.
