Bangalore, Jan 16: Dhwani, the annual cultural fest of St Joseph’s College of Commerce has continually proved to be one among the most impeccably organized cultural fests in the city. It has been successfully carried out for the past 10 years. Accordingly Dhwani 2008 is to be held on Friday January 18 and Saturday January 19 and it will be inaugurated by Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde.

The theme for Dhwani 2008 will be centered on ancient India. The rustic look and rich heritage will all be brought to life within the SJCC premises. The college intends to stress upon the diverse Indian culture ranging from the period of the Aryans all the way down to the Mughals. The essence of this theme will be epitomized by the concept of Ashwamedha, which will be incorporated within the competitions itself.

The fest sees the participation of approximately 35 colleges and 2000 visitors a day. As customary to all SJCC fests, Dhwani attaches itself to a social cause and uses itself to create awareness and to provide relief by any means to the cause. This years’ cause is to provide an opportunity to 5 state schools to compete at the inter-school cultural event where their talents will be showcased.

The highlight or finale of Dhwani is a musical event by two of Bangalore’s favorite college rock bands Haven and Fahrenheit. A treasure hunt spanning a radius of 10 km around SJCC will also be held with lots of prizes to be won.
