Udupi, Dec 7: The Dalita - Damanitara Swabhimani Horata Samiti members organised a programme recalling the period from parinirvana (demise) of Dr B R Ambedkar to the day of demolition of Babri Masjid on Tuesday December 6 at Ambedkar Bhavana Adiudupi.

Rajshekhar of Komu Sauharda Vedike recalling the days of Bhimrao said, "His life has seen many tough days of harassment physically and mentally by the upper class."

"On the same day, non-Muslims demolished the holy place of the Muslims. In light of this, a well planned and organized group of people joined hands and the non-Muslims spurred into carrying out this act including people from here thronged to the Masjid, but no one was punished. Subsequently no court has recalled the Ayodhya incident after that."

"Now the conscience of country's people has vanished, justice has collapsed, the constitution has lost its function and the entire legal system has been uprooted. After the Babri Masjid incident, anti nationalists have attacked Mumbai twice," he added.

"The mass massacre of the Sikh community at Delhi in 1984 was another tragedy. The judicial system has been on the decline for many years."

Rajshekhar also said, "It is clearly mentioned in the constitution that everyone is equal before law, but now people are living in an unequal society."

"In 1992, when the so called secular party was in power, a large crowd of Hindus demolished the mosque. They protected only the Hindus, but the minority community has been completely ignored by them," alleged Rajshekhar.

"Hence this day is observed in remembrance of the challenges faced by the constitution," he added.

Sundar Mastar presided over the programme.

Shyamraj Birthi, district convenor, Hussain Kodibengre, Muslim union leader and Kaleel Ahmed were present.
