 Kalaangan's Spell-binding Looks Attract Crowd

As the Konkani Nirantari aims at spreading 'Konkani' the world over the organizers have done their best here to familiarize the visitors with the local culture and tradition. The entrance itself reminds you of a remote village. The thatched look of the welcome arc, made by grass, is truly enticing.

Interestingly, the fencing has been done by sugar canes. It is rare to find such an entrance. Seems like a gateway to heaven. Pineapples, areca nuts and sky lamps are hanged at the entrance. It brings forth the traditional look. Moreover, visitors are treated with tender coconuts to refresh them for a wonderful musical treat.

The stage, where the singers and musicians are performing is decorated with coconut tree fronds, which adds to the beauty. All credits should be given to the aesthetic sense and efforts of the organizers and the local volunteers who have created the perfect ambience at Kalaangan for Nirantari.

Update at 2.50 pm

After presenting a stupendous show, the Bantwal group handed over the stage to team from Bejai.  Foot-tapping numbers and lively singing by Bantwal group made audience to rise and dance.  'Ye Naari Ye', a hit song sung by none other than Remo Fernandes from the recently released music album Mog Asom, one of Goan's memorable and crowd-puller 'Piso' song, Sangit Samrat Henry D'Souza's 'Illo Illo Soro Piyelo' and Elyer's 'Bindas Zaa' songs receive a big applause from the entire gathering.

As the biggest moment of Konkani is drawing close, there seems to be an air of celebration and festivity surrounding Kalaangann.  While the music groups are giving their best, the audience too is not far behind in acknowledging the efforts of the artistes and the organizers.  This was very much evident as Kollangana troupe was singing its last number in order to make way for the new entry, Bantwal.  While the audience gleefully acknowledged the performance of the Kollangana group, they also gave rousing welcome with showers of claps.

Right now Bantwal team led by Alex Crasta is picking up the tempo in order to dish out a memorable performance.  Amidst giving the best, it is quite sure that every one is determined to take Konkani to Guinness Records. Indeed a superb way of promoting and nurturing mother tongue.  Isn't it?

Standing ovation for the record breaking attempt undertaken for the Konkani speaking people. Taking the event to greater heights by having a front page national coverage (India) through larger news coverage media such as Doordarshan, NDTV, Aaj Tak etc among the Television media and Times of India, Hindustan Times etc among the Print media will certainly take the level of Konkani recognition higher from where it is today. Will Mandd Sobhann take this up?
