Note ban destroyed terror funding, human and drug trafficking: PM

Dehradun, Dec 27 (PTI): Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi's charge of helping big corporates and the rich, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said his government is focused on working for the poor and asserted that demonetisation has destroyed in one stroke black money, terror funding as well as human and drug trafficking.

Targeting parties who are opposing the note ban, he claimed some people are upset as his decision has struck the "ring leader of thieves".

Addressing BJP's 'parivartan maharally' in poll-bound Uttarakhand, Modi appeared to rebut Rahul's charge when he said that while the UPA government's move to raise the number of subsidised cylinders from 9 to 12 was projected as momentous, his government gave gas cylinders to five crore people below poverty line.

"18,000 villagers were living in 18th century without electricity... in thousand days, we have electrified 12,000 villages. Work on remaining 6,000 is on. Is this working for rich or empowering the poor," he said.

With the decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the black money stored in cupboards and under mattresses is now coming to banks and to the people, he said, adding he is fulfilling his duty of a 'chowkidar' (watchman) to get rid of black money and "dark hearts" which have ruined the country.

"In some, corruption is in the blood. They used back door to convert the money and thought Modi cannot see.

"But we knew and now they are being caught," he said referring to various raids by law enforcement agencies on black money hoarders.

Describing note ban as a "cleanliness drive", he thanked the people for standing by him. He also said the move is aimed at empowering the people and to give them a bright future.

"I am fighting to make the honest empowered," Modi said adding that his November 8 decision has dealt a devastating blow to black money and terror funding.

The decision is not being liked by some people as he has struck directly at the "ring leader of thieves" (choron ka sardar), the Prime Minister said.

18000 villagers had no electricity in 18th century........
I congratulate the PM for providing electricity to 12000 villages in 1000 days.
But he has put the whole country in darkness with unplanned manner of demonetization.
One uneducated fool, fooling the millions across the country.

I was born in the 20th century. There was no electricity during my childhood days in the city I was born and brought up. I remember the days Me and my siblings sitting around a small chimney and doing our homework/studies.As years rolled by cities were electrified so also the villages. The present GEN. Youth have not come across these problems. Cos they are born in the electrified days and they feel the feku is right in whatever he barks.

I would like to ask PMji whether there was electricity in those days at the places he was selling chay. If he has forgotten he may ask his mother who is still alive to answer his questions.Today electricity has reached nook and corner of the country with the efforts of the then ruling Govt If any of the villages are left out the present Govt is duty bound to provide the same on war footing and there is nothing great to boast about.

Good move. But BJP is talking about cashless transactions. Is internet available from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Is sufficient speed in internet. First upgrade the BSNL internet speed and talk about Cashlless transactions. Mangalore has been nominated for smart city. But BSNL is not capable to lay optic fibre cables in and around corporation limits of mangalore.

November 29:Seven army men killed in terror attack at Army post in Nagrota.
November 22: Three soldiers were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Machhil.
November 21: BSF Head Constable Rai Singh was killed at Tarkundi in Rajouri district.
November 9: A soldier was killed in north Kashmir’s Machil sector when Pakistani snipers attacked army posts on the LOC. another Indian soldier, who was injured in shelling by Pakistani troops in Nowshehra sector, succumbed to his injuries.
November 8: Naik Pritam Singh was killed in Nowshehra.

Deomonestisation caused more death than the soldiers at the border.

As we all know the “surgical strike" on black money turned out to be a huge economic and political defeat for the present dispensation, the bigger point is - who will take the responsibility for over 120 deaths due to demonetisation? Will you?

Note ban destroyed nearly 100 peoples life & their families are the victims too.
Partial note ban on all the people except those who are in power, using state machinery to silence those who are opposing it has become a norm these days.
Jokes apart, the gain that was projected is no where to be seen & Digital transactions with looming hacking attacks doesn't forebode well for Indian Economy at present.

It is like sacrificing innocent, poor citizens to stop terror funding and human and drug trafficking where as rich and real black money hoarders are enjoying their life by spending crores and crores of rupees on marriages of their family members. When people realize their failure and find no direction to abscond, start giving different false promises on daily basis.

The notion that 'money stored in cupboards and under mattresses which is now coming to banks' is all black is WRONG. There is no limit for storing cash in your home or office if it has been accounted for and within the tax policy of the nation.

DeMo has been a huge failure by the government and it is making a fool of itself by trying to bury its mistake from the people.
