Dubai: Ex-Agnesians Felicitate Sr Olivia A.C.

Dubai, Feb 2: The Agnesians came together again to meet Sr. Olivia A.C, Ex – Principal of St. Agnes College, Mangalore on 1st Feb 2008 at Winny’s Restaurant, Dubai.
This Get together was organised by the Agnesian ex-students in the UAE particularly to meet and greet Sr. Olivia A.C., the Ex-principal of St. Agnes College, Mangalore (1991- 2001) and the Provincial Superior of the Apostolic Carmel, Province of Karnataka, who is on a short visit to the U.A.E.
The programme commenced with an opening prayer by Susanna Mendonca followed by the singing of the College Anthem. Karen Menezes welcomed all the participants and the Guest of Honour Rev. Sr. Olivia. She also highlighted the achievements of Sr. Olivia who holds M.Sc degree in Mathematics and Ph.D degrees in Education and Psychology.
Marisa Lobo addressed the gathering and briefly mentioned how the Agnesians in the UAE organize their Reunions every alternate year. She presented a Memento to Sr. Olivia on behalf of the Agnesian Alumni in the UAE. Elsie Noronha briefly mentioned the contribution made by the Agnesians in the UAE towards their Alma Mater by way of Scholarship for the deserving students of the College.
The Agnesians in Dubai & Sharjah, both young & old, shared their interesting experiences of college days. They left no stone unturned to express their feelings & gratitude for Sr. Olivia and for their Alma Mater St. Agnes College, Mangalore.
The day brought back fond memories of the good old college days as Sr. Olivia graced the meeting with her speech. She thanked all the Agnesians for the love & warmth shown towards her. Jennifer Mascarenhas read out the message sent by Sr. Prem D’Souza, present Principal of St. Agnes College which focused on the growth of the college in terms of quality Postgraduate Education.
Addressing the meet, the day’s special guest Mr. Sudhir Gopi, Chairman of Sudhir Gopi Holdings Inc. briefed the gathering on their various educational institutions and suggested that the Apostolic Carmelite Sisters should now promote education in the UAE by establishing their institutions here.
The meeting was compeered by Aboline D’Cunha, and concluded with a Vote of thanks by Petula D’Souza, followed by lunch. Gavin, son of Agnesian Averyl Rodrigues entertained the audience with a lively dance performance.
