Woman strips after being unable to exchange old notes at RBI

New Delhi, Jan 5 (IANS): A 30-year old woman on Wednesday stripped outside the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) office here in protest after she could not exchange her old demonetised currency notes from the central bank for the last three days, police said.

Police said the incident took place at around 12.30 pm when the woman, whose name has been withheld to protect her privacy, and was said to be a resident of Mehrauli in south Delhi, was not allowed to enter the bank.

She has been visiting the RBI from last three days to exchange Rs 5,000 in old notes.

On Wednesday, the woman, who works as a maid, visited the RBI along with her minor child but as she was again not allowed to enter, protested vocally and cursed demonetisation.

"I am disappointed at the misbehaviour of RBI security personnel. When I was cursing the RBI for not allowing me to exchange my savings, the RBI security personnel called local police to keep me away," she said.

"I asked them why I was not being allowed to exchange my hard-earned little amount of money, the policewomen separated me from my child and took me into their vehicle. I came out from the police vehicle and removed my clothes to mark my protest against this misbehaviour of RBI officers, central government and police administration for separating a mother from her child," she said.

The woman, who stripped in the presence of hundreds of people standing to exchange their old currency notes outside RBI, was detained but freed after being taken a little distance away, police said.

    Govt keeps on changing statements.

Previously they stated that, old currencies can be exchanged or deposited in the Bank accounts till Dec30, 2016. Beyond that currencies can be changed or deposited through RBI.

Later discontinued exchange and demanded deposit in the account. Now deposit or exchange is restricted by RBI to Non residents or those stayed abroad only, which was not informed earlier!

Shame on Modi, He has failed to solve this flop show. People have voted him, and same people will not forget the hardship he brought in common man's life in the name of demonetisation.

    Boda (BJP) sheera!

Three years have almost passed with promises. The end result would be the end of BJP.

Success is guranteed if planned well and at a limited pace and not like jumping from the hill to reach safe destination.

Even the BJP Bhakts must have realized the side effects of demonetization.

Why the ban on withdrawal limits is still not lifted. Whose savings or the balance held in the Bank accounts. It is none of governments business to impose rules on customer’s free hand to handle their cash at their own will. It's a flop government who acts in the nutshell without any importance to common man’s rights. Fighting corruption is government’s responsibility with public cooperation and the dead line for public patience is dying out.

Modi seems to have become a silent spectator.

Modi should take immediate steps to end the discomfort faced by people due to demonetization.
I think this incidence is a slap on Modi's face for the unorganized implementation of demonetization, however good the intentions and results may be.
