Margao, Feb 18: We need to learn a lesson or two from Remo Fernandes. This singer with international repute has always been outspoken about the State and has aired his concern for the state, whenever need arises.
From the time, when Goa was fighting regional plan to the days when Goa is struggling to retain its identity, Remo has always come open. A bitter critique of politicians, Remo has shown through his act that whatever he says, he means it.
And the recent one is his concert planned at Dunes at Morjim beach, where this versatile singer will showcase how we can enjoy music without it being loud.
On February 19, the singer has planned a concert at Morjim beach. The concert aims at educating people how to keep Goa clean. Clean, just not physically but also clean from the noise pollution.
The state has been a famous tourist destination. This has forced many to carve out a night life. And in the struggle to have a night life, various shows and concerts are planned. The state has a ban on loud music after 10 pm which has often been criticized by the tourism industry.
According to Remo, there can be concerts without much music. What is important is that we should enjoy the music. What is more important is that we should be able to curb the noise pollution. While we party, the neighbours should be able to sleep in peace.
This is possible. Remo himself says that it is possible and in Goa, Remo is one amongst the very few persons, whom we can call authority when it comes to music.
So, let us wait and see as how Remo displays his art of having a concert with low decible music.
But one thing is for sure. All Goans should appreciate Remo for his devotion towards Goa. Undoubtedly, he is the real son of the soil.
