Panaji, Feb 8: Aam Aadmi Party volunteers and candidates have resumed and are to continue for 2-3 weeks the door-to-door visits to thank the people of Goa for their love and support.
The volunteers and candidates will reassure the people through this round of door-to-door visits that we will be shoulder-to-shoulder with them in the continuing mission to change politics and save Goa's land, culture and heritage.
This was revealed at a meeting of AAP candidates held on Tuesday, at a venue in Dona Paula and chaired by State Convenor and CM candidate Elvis Gomes.
Gomes expressed confidence that the people of Goa have overwhelmingly voted for change represented by AAP.
Gomes congratulated all the candidates for their enthusiastic and clean campaign but at the same time came down heavily on the Election Commission's machinery for its abject failure to curb the use of money in the last couple of days of the election.
"I will say it on record that the Election Commission has miserably failed to stop distribution of money and liquor across Goa on the eve of the elections," Gomes said in his address to the candidates and others.
"Despite enormous amount of money and muscle power deployed by the opponents, it is clear that the people of Goa have 'silently' and overwhelmingly voted for change. The results will be a resounding slap on the face of corrupt politicians of Goa," Gomes said.
He said, the results on March 11 will be a huge surprise to the so-called political pundits. AAP has already got engraved in the hearts of Goans with our unique and clean style of campaigning and will further build up on its strengths very soon, he added.
All candidates of AAP also spoke of their personal experiences and were all in praise for the party's revolutionary commitment to clean and ethical politics.
Several of the candidates also described how money was flowing in their respective constituencies at the fag end of the campaign and right up to voting day.
In several cases, the AAP candidates also filed complaints of code violations and gross illegalities. These complaints will be vigorously pursued under the 'corrupt practices' provisions of the Representation of People Act, it was resolved.
AAP state treasurer, Rahul Mahambre, said that the party's campaign has been one of the cleanest and most unconventional in the history of Goa.
"It was fought with the most frugal budget and every rupee raised and spent is accounted," Mahambre, a reputed Mapusa-based chartered accounted, said.
AAP chief spokesperson, Dr Oscar Rebello and National Executive member, Dinesh Vaghela also addressed the meeting.
AAP National Secretary and Goa in-charge, Pankaj Gupta, also addressed and guided the proceedings through video-conferencing.
