Mangaluru, Feb 13: Srinivas group of colleges will celebrate its 29th year of establishment with a two-day programme including Founder’s Day, Graduation Day and College Day at Srinivas Campus, Merlapadav, Valachil on February 15 and 16.
Kishore Alva, the executive director and joint president of Project Development, CSR and Corporate Affairs at Adani UPCL, Udupi will inaugurate the function. He is also the vice-president of Bangalore Chamber of Industries and Commerce. Udaya Kumar B V, assistant general manager, State Bank of India, Port Road, Mangaluru will be the chief guest.
About 10,000 students of Srinivas group of colleges will participate in the function. More than 200 students who have excelled in academics and extracurricular activities will be awarded during the function. Also, 29 students who studied in Srinivas Group of Colleges and secured ranks in University exams will be felicitated with A Shama Rao Foundation Gold medals.
The annual awards instituted by the governing council of A Shama Rao foundation to recognize and honor people who contribute substantially to the development of identified areas of our society will be presented during the function.
A Shama Rao memorial award for outstanding contribution of individual and community development in the field of education, agriculture, employment and literary services will be given to S Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Kalkura Prathistana, president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Dakshina Kannada District Unit, Mangaluru.
A Shama Rao memorial outstanding teacher award of the year will be presented to Jayarama Poonja, principal, Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple Pre-University college, Kateel, Dakshina Kannada district for his dedicated services as teacher, motivating students to concentrate on studies and guiding them to participate in various co-curricular activities at national and international level.
A Shama Rao memorial award for outstanding achievement in social contribution will be received by Sr Sylvia Fernandes, superintendent of Infant Mary convent and St Joseph Prashanth Nivas, Jeppinamogaru, Mangaluru, for her involvement in helping the poorer sections of the society and dedicating her life to serve the mankind.
