Puttur: St Philomena's College Celebrates Alumni Day

Puttur, Feb 22: The alumni day was celebrated at St Philomena College, on Thursday February 21 evening, as part of the ongoing golden jubilee celebrations of the college. It was indeed a memorable occasion for all the alumni of St Philomena College who arrived from all over the country and abroad to attend the celebrations.
Fr Wilson L Vitus D'Souza, secretary of Catholic Board of Education (CBE) presided over the programme.
Dr B A Vivek Rai, vice-chancellor of KSOU, Mysore, Ramanna Naik, deputy commissioner of Koppal district, Vinay Kumar Sorake, ex-MP of Udupi constituency were the chief guest.
Rev Stany Patrao's daughter Spilla Stabella from Australia was the special guest on the occasion.
Major general K P Nanjappa, recipient of Veer Chakra and retired of naval officer was felicitated on the occasion.
On the occasion 24 former students of the college including Dr Shyam Prakash Shetty, head surgeon in Bangalore, Dr Pradeep Lancy Menezes, PhD in engineering, Dr V Mohan Kumar, PhD in agriculture, Dr P V Krishna Raj, Dr Vivek Rai, Dr Ramnayak, IAS officer of Koppal and Rita D'Souza were feted.
Seven former student presidents were also felicitated.
Dr Vivek Rai who was a student of the college in 1967 expressed his pleasure at the college reaching a new milestone and said that the college has given boost to the careers of thousands of students.
Gerard D Souza, convener, Fr Gomes, principal, and Edwin Dsouza, PU college principal were present.
