Mangalore: Mayor, Deputy Offer Puja at Thumbe Vented Dam

Mangalore, Feb 22: “Dakshina Kannada district has been developing fast putting an additional strain on existing water sources.  Despite the fast strides, the administration that reigned the civic body in the past, had not given due consideration to manage water crisis.  But as the first citizen of this city, my foremost priority will be to solve the existing water problem.  I would soon take a delegation of corporators to the Governor, in order to urge him to release Rs 40 crore for completing the execution of vented dam works,” said newly-elected mayor Ganesh Hosabettu after offering Ganga puja at the Thumbe vented dam on Friday February 22.

Deputy mayor Shakila Kava too accompanied him and offered Ganga puja.  It is customary for the newly-elected Mayors to offer puja beseeching God to shower the city with adequate water sources.

Former minister Nagaraj Shetty, ex-MLAs Yogish Shetty, Padmanabha Kottari, opposition leader in the MCC Harinath, former mayor Shashidar Hegde, Bantwal taluk panchayat member Somappa Kotian, Bantwal taluk panchayat president Yashodha, Thumbe gram panchayat president Mohammed, MCC commissioner Krishnappa Poojary, executive engineer Rajashekar, were present on the occasion.

Gopal Gowda welcomed the gathering while Uma G Hegde proposed vote of thanks.

    Its nice to see the new mayor make a good start by offering puja at the vented dam.Also along with the blesssings of gods scientific methods and approach too much be done fast .Also wastage of water must be stopped.
