Media Release

Mangaluru, Feb 17: Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza was on his pastoral visit on February 17. It is eight years since the bishop visited the institute as the president of the institution.

He was welcomed and received by the correspondent Fr Valerian D’Souza, the campus administrator Fr Michael Santhumayor, heads of the institution, management members, governing council members and PTA members of all sections along with institution band and NCC cadets.

Student representative Navya Rao welcomed the gathering. All the heads of the institution, PTA presidents and student representatives of various sections greeted the bishop florally.

The bishop was impressed by the academic report of the institute. He motivated the students and emphasized the importance of being strong as a lion, as the lion has the ability to withstand any situation and accept any challenge. He highlighted the importance of value based education given to students from primary to degree level. Man becomes capable not through academic excellence alone, but also by aquiring intellectual, emotional and spiritual qualities.

He appreciated all the heads of the institutes and staff for their effort and dedication and inaugurated the new basketball court on Milagres grounds. Vote of thanks was delivered by Winston Prince Baretto from the high school section. Anisha D’Souza compered the programme.

Very pleased to read that Milagres School is focusing their attention towards increased athletic programs, including the Basketball in addition to all the attention towards Education. Athletic programs are very useful to young students so that they can nourish their bodies thru fitness where the sports activities will play an important role. An athlete can earn as much or even more income as a career, although focus on their studies is very essential. In the United States the athletic programs are getting important focus as much as "No Play No Pass" act is strictly adhered to. Daily fitness for every student thru participation in any kind of athletic programs is going to be very beneficial.

I took the opportunity of visiting Milagres School during November along with my Book because I have spent 3 solid years at Milagres School where I have earned multitude of benefits. Unfortunately the school was closed and the security guard did not feel comfortable to accept my book duly gift wrapped and duly autographed. Hence I went to Milagres Church but did not have the chance to meet anyone there. Hence I left my book with the Secretary. Three months have passed but I have not heard from anyone whether they received my Book or not. I have dedicated several pages on Milagres School.

Milagres brings very pleasant memories of the past school days. The students whose company I enjoyed the most and also the guidance and help from so many faculty members is still remembered and gratefully recognized. I wish Milagres School best of success. I would like to visit Milagres school next time and share some of my past pleasant thoughts and feelings.
