Civic Workers Go on Strike to Protest against Assault on Mayor

Panaji / Goa, Feb 24: Owing to the flash strike of civic workers of Panaji City Corporation, the garbage collection has been badly hit in the city, on Sunday February 24.  The civic staff staged protest against the assault on Tony Rodrigues, city Mayor by the policemen at the city police station, on Tuesday February 19. 



Yatin Parekh, informed daijiworld.com, that civic workers would stage indefinite strike till the assaulters are brought to book.  Moreover, they have presented a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police, seeking the justice on assault of city Mayor by policemen.  Keshav Prabhu, union leader also extended support to the cause of civic staff. 


The garbage has been piled up in heaps all over the city, due to flash strike of civic workers.  The garbage bins are overflowing with garbage and being strewn all over in the vicinity.  The city is stinking owing to moles of garbage.  The tourists are finding it unbearable to venture out to the beach and recreation centers.  The citizens ought to bear the brunt of garbage menace, due to the flash strike of civic workers.  Moreover, the protest by civic staff threatens the health of citizens, as the piled up garbage poses health hazards, giving rise to contagious diseases.
