Bengaluru: Congress to dig out denotification cases, take on Yeddyurappa

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 28: Feeling harassed and humiliated by the scathing attacks launched against it and the state government by Yeddyurappa and other BJP leaders by repeatedly raking up the issue of diary containing particulars of donations sent to the party high command, Congress government in the state is preparing to hit back at the former chief minister and state BJP president in a fitting manner. The Siddaramaiah-led state government is preparing to give a fresh lease of life to the cases pertaining to amassing of wealth illegally and denotification cases, in a bid to haul Yeddyurappa over the coal by frustrating him by keeping him engaged through multifarious cases, it is gathered.

The strategy the government wants to adopt is to breathe life into the 22 denotification cases that are gathering rust, and filing of appeals in cases where the former chief minister has got a clean chit from the courts. These issues were discussed by Siddaramaiah and law and parliamentary affairs minister, T B Jayachandra, with the law department and state advocate general on Monday February 27 morning, it is reliably learnt.

B S Yeddyurappa

It is said that the party high command wants the state Congress to hit back at the BJP that has launched a tirade against its government. It wants the state government to bring up corruption, scams, and denotification cases which had happened during the BJP rule in an attempt to sully the image of Yeddyurappa and his party, who are trying to get an upper hand at the moment. As a first step, it has been decided to extricate denotifation cases standing against Yeddyurappa.

As per law, in cases wherever the high court has pronounced the accused not guilty, there is a provision to file appeals. Comptroller and Auditor General, in the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, has supported state governments right to appeal against high court verdicts. For helping the chief minister to effectively counter the BJP challenge, a legal advisor has been appointed to help the chief minister. Filing of appeals in 15 out of 22 cases in which Yeddyurappa has been given clean chit by the high court, and pooling and furnishing of additional information in relation to five cases that are being heard by Lokaykukta court and also two other cases that have been decided to be heard afresh, are strategies aimed at stymieing the BJP, it is said.

The officials have been instructed to put together information about other scandals and corruption cases which had happened during the period BJP was in power in Karnataka. The Congress wants to gag and hold in tight leash the BJP leaders who were facing allegations in various cases filed in the past, it is gathered.

Congress should reopen the Maithradevi, Yeddyurappa's wife, had died on October 16, 2004, under mysterious circumstances at her Shimoga residence. Mythra Devi was believed to have drowned and died in a water tank in front of their house in Vinoba Nagar here. A post-mortem report said she had died due to drowning.
This one nail is sufficient to end his political career. If Congress is sincere about corruption, then appeal the denotification cases and mining kickbacks.

If Congress dragges Yeddyurappa to swear on Dharmasthala to prove he has no connection it will shake him up. In addition to that release the video at national media with English subtitles were he is asking ‘police officer’ over phone not to harass some Hindu youths in a murder case in Hassan.

There is already referendum demonetisation' claims of ruling BJP which will proved only after assembly election results.

Yeddi led bjp govt failed miserably during its tenure from 2006-2008 and 2008-2013. Their govt was embroiled in controversies from day 1.

People have not forgotten Operation Kamala, Iron ore mining scam, land de-notification scam, resort politics, drought mismanagement etc, immoral rowdyism etc.

Nothing better illustrates the decline of Congress than this late stage attempt to revive corruption cases against Yeddyurappa. BJP practises brass knuckle politics, Congress responds with boxing gloves politics.
