Beltangady: Several hurt as crowded bus topples near Kutrottu

Beltangady, Mar 1: A private bus crowded with passengers plying from Beltangady to Killur toppled at Kutrottu at Nada here on the night of Wednesday March 1. Several people were injured in the accident.

It is said that the driver of the bus lost control due to a technical failure. Usually, a large number of people travel on this road at night. The bus was climbing a small ascent near Kutrottu when it toppled.

Five ambulances including 108 rushed the injured to hospitals in Ujire, Laila and Beltangady.

Beltangady SI and staff rushed to the spot. Hundreds of vehicles and people could be seen at the spot of the incident.

Driver Bhasker, conductor Sahul, forest department staff Balakrishna, Sundari, Pandu and others were seriously injured. They have been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. Kuriakose(40), Abdul Rahman(45), Ganesh (35), Prashanth (26), Anand (55) and Lingappa (35) are being treated in the government hospital here. One of them whose condition is said to be serious was later taken to a hospital in Mangaluru.


Auto rickshaw topples:

An auto rickshaw toppled at Pijakkala curve near Koyyur. Six people were injured in the incident. The rickshaw fallen into a roadside drain after the driver lost control. The injured including the driver are being treated in the government hospital here.
