Bangalore, Mar 1: The prestigious 'Nikkei Asia Prize' for Science, Technology and Innovation award has been bagged by Prof Chintamani Nagesa Ramachandra (CNR) Rao, national research professor and president of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore informs a press release from JNCASR.
The award instituted by Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Inc (Nikkei), the publisher of Japan's leading business newspaper, is being given in recognition of his "distinguished contribution to chemical spectroscopy, molecular spectra and chemistry of advanced materials", adds the JNCASR release.
He will be conferred the said prize on May 21, in Tokyo.

Prof Rao is one of the world's foremost solid state and materials chemists. He has made prolific and sustained contributions to the development of the field over five decades. His work on transition metaloxides has led to basic understanding of novel phenomena and the relationship between materials properties and the structural chemistry of these materials.
