Bengaluru, Mar 7: Many parts of the state received the first rain of this summer on Monday March 6, bringing relief in the hot summer.

Mysuru, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts reported rains.

The showers helped to douse the fire in the Nagarahole National Park and Bandipur Tiger Reserve. Following the rains, the water crisis facing wildlife is likely to ease to some extent.

Hunsur town with adjoining villages and parts of Nanjangudu taluk also received rains.

Parts of Mandya district, including Mandya city, received mild showers. There were reports of light rains in Yalandur and Kollegal taluks of Chamarajanagar district.

Sakleshpur town and surrounding villages in Hassan district experienced rain for around one hour on Monday.

Moderate rain lashed Gubbi and Madhugiri taluks in Tumakuru district. Two persons, including a 13-year-old girl, were struck dead by lightning in Gubbi.
