Margao: Displaced Stall Owners of Market to be Rehabilitated

Margao, Mar 5: The municipal council has drafted the plan to rehabilitate around 200 odd stall owners of Margao market, who were displaced after their stalls were razed down owing to court order five years ago.

In this regard when contacted vice-chairperson Narayan Fondekar told that all those stall owners whose stalls were razed will be rehabilitated in a new building which is to be commissioned at old market.

"We have sent the proposal to rehabilitate the stall owners who suffered a lot when their stalls were demolished. On a humanitarian ground they should be rehabilitated," he said further.

Meanwhile to steer the mess of files missing in Margao Municipal Council, the chief officer N D Agarwal has stated that if there are complaints about it, then, he would file an FIR.

After the people's hue and cry over MMC officer's reply that files had gone missing, Agarwal said that municipal council has come out with strict actions to curb such practices in the future.

Councillor Savio Cutinho had raised this issue during the special meeting held in MMC. 

Margao faces huge problem of parking. for which chief officer also disclosed the plans of starting the pay parking in the city. Pay parking in the old market will be effective from April 1. Around 75 cars and many two-wheelers will be accommodated here.
