Mangalore, Mar 7: For the first time ever, a Kannada movie is being fully shot in the coastal region of the state. Lekhan, director of 'Sihi Gali' found this region well-suited for the movie and the entire crew is camped in the city. The shooting is going on in and around the city without any hurdles, Lekhan said while speaking to Daijiworld.
No Kannada movie has been fully shot in the coastal region, according to Lekhan and the director will be achieving a new feat with 'Sihi Gali'. He chose the city because of its ambience and the advantages it has over the busy, polluted city of Bangalore. Moreover, as the city does not have frequent traffic jams like in Bangalore, the crew can save a lot of time and thereby finish the shooting on time, he said.
The region is apt especially as the movie required a seashore location and a place that is a blend of both urban and rural environments, he explained.
The film is not based on any specific issue but it depicts the feelings a common man experiences in his life, said Lekhan, revealing the entire story in a single sentence. Cameraman Niranjanbabu is putting in all his efforts to capture the scenes for this movie.
Well-known actor Murali is starring in the movie and he is confident about its success. This long-haired smart actor has already performed in a dozen of movies including hits like ‘Sevanti Sevanti.’ He is overwhelmed with the response which he received from public here.
Shirin, the main actress in the movie is not a familiar name with Kannada film lovers as she is a beginner. Although she has starred in many south Indian films, she didn’t get enough opportunities in Kannada films. She starred in the Kannada movie ‘Bhupati’ with well-known actor Darshan. But it did not click.
This movie has made another record by providing opportunity to local artistes. Except three main actors, all others are local artistes. Interestingly, Chetan Rai of Mani village in Bantwal is performing villain’s role. Though he has acted in many movies in Kannada, for the first time he is playing a major character.
Lekhan is confident of completing the movie by April 5. The shooting began on February 20. With so many artistes and the entire region on the silver screen, the movie is sure to captivate the hearts of Tulu people.
