Mangalore: Jaggery Brew worth Rs 2 Lac Seized near Ullal - No One Arrested

Mangalore, Mar 7: A special squad of the Excise police led by inspectors Sathish Kumar Kudroli, Vinod Kumar, V S Gundu and Kushalappa raided various brewing points at Adam Kudru, Onti Kudru and Gatti Kudru near Ullal here and unearthed seized jaggery brew on Friday March 7 morning.

The worth of seized 20,000 litres of brew and equipments is estimated at Rs 2 lac. Police raided the brew joints on a sure tip off in the early hours of Friday.  However, no one is arrested in this regard.  Police said that these have been notorious brew joints for long and spurious liquor is being produced here which is supplied later to various places in and around the city.

Police also said that owing to the geographical advantages, the accused manage to flee the place during the raids.  "They have some informers who keep a vigil round the clock.  So whenever the police come for raid, a message reaches them immediately and they manage to give a slip to cops," said one of the inspectors.
