Bangalore: Udaya Sunfeast Awards - Ganesh, Amulya Best Actors

Bangalore, Mar 10: Sunfeast Udaya TV Film Awards for 2007 were presented on Sunday at a star-studded function at the Bangalore Palace Grounds.

K R Srinivasan, Director General of Police, and Parvathamma Rajkumar inaugurated the function, while former chief minister S Bangarappa was special guest. Abhinaya Sharade Jayanthi and rebel star Ambareesh were honoured with lifetime achievement awards.

Crazy star Ravichandran and Jaggesh were felicitated for their contribution to Kannada film industry for the last 25 years. Character artiste of yesteryears —Shani Mahadevappa, was honoured with the Udaya TV special award.

Senior artiste Shantamma was presented the Dr. Rajkumar award. Both of them were given Rs 25,000 each. Duniya continued its sweep with 6 awards, while Cheluvina Chithaara and Aa Dinagalu shared two each. Ganesh and Amulya were given best actor and actress awards for their performance in Cheluvina Chithaara.

Puneeth Rajkumar bagged the ‘successful artiste of the year’ award. Speech and hearing impaired artiste Dhruva was felicitated with a special award for his performance in Snehaanjali.

Speaking on the occasion, former Union minister for Communications Dayanidhi Maran announced that Sun Foundation plans to spend Rs 1 crore in Karnataka as part of its charity work.

“As of now the Sun Foundation has spent Rs 12 crore to lend financial assistance to the needy people in Tamil Nadu. Now, we want to extend our philanthropic activities to Karnataka. Those in need can contact Sun Foundation,” said Maran.
