Moodbidri, Mar 10: Srinivasa Kalyanotsava, a replica of God Tirupathi Timmappa was held at Swarajya Maidan here on Sunday March 9.

Moodbidri Ponnechari Shree Venkatramana Temple with the support of its disciples organized the festival in which more than ten thousand people participated.  It was for the first time in the history of Moodbidri that Kalyanostava was being held.

Kalyanostava is the dramatization of marriage ceremony of the Tirupathi Srinivas with Padmavathi. Kalyanostava is the brainchild of Tirupathi temple's Dasasahitya project. It is held in four parts Darshana, Srinivasa Agamana and Abhisheka, Padmavathi episode and Kalyana.

All the rituals of Hindu marriages are held with beautiful lyrics of Dasas such as Purandaradasa, a famous poet and psalmist of Kannada.
