More trouble for Indian techies: After US, Singapore tightens visa norms

New Delhi, Apr 3 (Zee News): While the Trump administration, on one hand, fuelling rise in anxiety in India with its clampdown on H1-B visa programme, Singapore has been quietly cutting down visas for Indian IT professionals over the last few months, the Times of India reported on Monday.

"This (visa problem) has been lingering for a while but since early-2016, visas are down to a trickle. All Indian companies have received communication on fair consideration, which basically means hiring local people," Nasscom president R Chandrashekhar has been quoted as saying in the TOI report.

Looking at the fall in the visa approvals for Indian IT professionals, India has now put the review of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) on hold, saying that the move was in violation of the trade pact.

The report said that the visa authorities at Singapore are said to be demanding compliance with certain economic pre-requisites via a test called the economic needs test (ENT).

The test is being conducted despite clear instructions from the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) that no such test be done on agreed services.

Supporter of Donald Trump, right-wing organisation Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, hopes the president-elect will "embrace" the Hindu culture and give up the consumption of beef.

Leaders of the Hindu Mahasabha had organised 'havans' to support the Republican nominee just before Americans headed to the ballots to cast their vote.

Now with trump H1-B visa programme and Singapore has been quietly cutting down visas for Indian IT professionals over the last few months. The Indians who used to have happy lives in those counties without bothering it is beef steak, now facing a direct threat to 'Dal Roti'.

I 'havans' consumed more Ghee or not, certainly now time has come for these techies for milking cow in abundant cow country of India.

How does PM Modi's government is going to fix 'reverse brain drain' if they returned to India is highly questionable in a country where more than 5 crores jobs lost directly or indirectly due to 'beef' and 'liquor' ban.

Now Modi can visit US and Singalore again to strike a deal. Hopefully other countries too would follow the same pattern in the coming days so that our PM can keep on visiting foreign shores! It wasn't a secret that India's present foreign policy is a big failure. The way smaller countries like Nepal, Myanmar, Maldives are dictating terms to India, it proves that the present govt is just about creating headlines rather than walking the talk. This is perhaps the only PM of India who doesn't have a single achievement under his belt as PM in the last 3 years. Except for abhiyans, bans, renaming and re-branding, nothing else has happened in India. It's just about fist-pumping and chest-thumping, photoshops and nothing else!

We know everything sitting in Uchila and can quickly draft Foreign Policy .
Every country is realizing the effect of loosing job to expat and want to strengthen their local talent. If someone who know the IT employment in US and Singapore , +50% is Indian expat.
Gulf Countries are also planning their job policies by limiting expatriates and tax systems.
By Modi govt policy decisions and future vision we are finding hope of survival in our home country which we never expected when most of people including myself looked to move out of country for livelihood .

Shetre, leave Bahrain. There are lacs of vacancies in U.P. for feeding cows in Goshala. Why serving Arabs when we have job opportunities in our own country ? However, here you will be paid in Rupees and not in Dhirams.
