Mangalore: Two from City for Rotary GSE Programme in Brazil

Mangalore, Mar 26: Two denizens from the city Ramachandra Mijar and Dr Anjali Ganesh as part of a five-member team comprising Rtn D S Ravi (team leader), Shakunthala Vattam and M S Sapna have been selected to represent Rotary District 3180 in the group study exchange programme in Brazil. For a period of one month beginning from May 3 the team will visit Rotary District 4680 in Brazil. 

Rotary International aims to promote international understanding, professional development and cultural exchange through this prestigious GSE programme. The team members are selected from nominations received from the public after stringent selection process and a Rotarian is designated as the team leader. 

Rotary International sponsors the entire expenses of the tour. With regard to the lodging and boarding, arrangements are made for the visiting team members for home stay in the residences of local Rotarians. They are also expected to visit local Rotary meetings and interact with Brazilian people to learn about their culture and way of life. 

About Ramachandra Mijar: Mijar happens to be the associate vice-president of Manipal Media Network Ltd., (Udayavani group). An LLB graduate, he is also a recipient of the Indira Gandhi National Award for best NSS Volunteer of India. He is also a recipient of best NCC Cadet, Karnataka State Youth award and best Rotaractor award. He led the state NSS contingent at the Republic Day parade in 1994 at New Delhi. 

About Dr Anjali Ganesh: She is an assistant professor at St Joseph's Engineering College, in the city. More than 30 research papers of Dr Anjali Ganesh have been in national and international journals. She is also an artiste par excellence in light music working for All India Radio and Doordarshan.
