Mangalore, Mar 29: Everyone can live the life of divinity provided he is ready to search for the divinity that resides within him, said Dr S R Nayak, justice and chairperson of the state human rights commission.

He was delivering the inaugural address at the seminar-cum-workshop on 'Human Rights' organized by Karnataka state police here at the Corporation Bank auditorium on Saturday March 29.

The primitive man had no notion of human rights or fundamental rights though he enjoyed limitless and absolute freedom; hence human rights are essentially a product of democracy, which is the core of civil liberties of a person, Nayak added.

Violation of human rights is rampant everywhere in various forms, hence it is about time that the commissions must strive to ensure protection of human rights of everyone particularly the disabled, the marginalized, children and women, he added.

Maheshwar Rao, deputy commissioner of DK district presided over the occasion. M Narendra, chief general manager of Corporation Bank, Amita Prasad, senior IAS officer, B Parthasarathy, and M N Reddy, members of the commission were present on the occasion.

A M Prasad, IGP Western Range welcomed the gathering and introduced the dignitaries.
