Kundapur, Jun 10: The Byndoor unit of BJP on Friday June 9 led a protest over a deep and wide hole on a 40-year-old bridge in Naxal-affected Yadamoge Hosabalu area.
The bridge has collapsed right in the middle of the road, creating a large hole near the start of the bridge.
"The base of the bridge has become weak over the last several years but the Byndoor MLA is doing nothing about it," alleged the protesters. Gopal Poojary of Congress is the local MLA.
"The area is known to be Naxal-affected, and is being neglected completely by the MLA," said Byndoor BJP chief secretary Deepak Kumar Shetty.
"The MLA remembers the Yadamoge villagers only when elections approach, though several crores are being released elsewhere. What have the Yadamoge resdidents done to deserve this?" he said. He warned of violent protests if the bridge was not repaired immediately.
Balachandra Bhat, Babanna Shetty and more than 50 protesters were present. The protesters submitted an appeal to the PDO and requested for early solution.
