Mangalore, Apr 15: The work on widening the stretch of road between Suratkal and BC Road and the repair work of Shiradi ghat have been delayed for too long and putting passengers to great inconvenience. Therefore, a committee will be formed to fight against the inefficient officers, said Dinesh Hegde Ulepadi, a social activist.

Speaking to media persons on Monday, April 14, the road widening work which has been taken up between Suratkal and B C Road is not up to the mark. Similarly, proper service line, pavements and drainage systems have not been created along the highway. Therefore, a strong protest is the need of the hour, he added.

Though deadlines were given to contractors, even half the work has not finished and there is every possibility that the work will be delayed for years. That is why a committee will be formed to fight against the officials who are responsible for the delay of this work. A meeting will be held at Hotel Woodlands auditorium at 4 pm on Sunday April 20 to discuss the issue. Almost all the union leaders will be participating in the meeting, he informed.

Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat was present on the occasion.
