Lok Sabha pays tribute to departed members, adjourned for day


New Delhi, Jul 17 (IANS): The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Monday after obituary references to former Union Minister Vinod Khanna, who was a sitting member from Gurdaspur.

The House also paid obituary references to four former members and to Anil Madhav Dave, who was Union Environment Minister and was a member of Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.

Soon after the House met for the day, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan made obituary references to Vinod Khanna, who died in April at the age of 70.

Dave, 60, died in May.

The House also paid tributes to Subedar Prasad Singh, who was an MP from Robertsganaj in Uttar Pradesh; Ajit Kumar Saha, who represented Bishnupur in West Bengal; Era Sezhiyan, who represented Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu, and Narain Singh Chaudhri, who was a member from Hisar in Haryana.
