6.3-magnitude quake strikes Peru


Lima, Jul 18 (IANS): A 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit the Peruvian Andes on Tuesday but no damages were reported.

The quake's epicenter was recorded at 45 km southwest of the municipality of Atico, in the region of Arequipa, reports Efe news.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 28 km and was felt with strong intensity in Atico, and moderate intensity in the city of Arequipa, the second most populous city in Peru and capital of the eponymous region.
