Mysore, Apr 29: A four-wheeler belonging to former prime minister H D Deve Gowda was seized by the election officials, for not possessing a valid pass, at Nanjangud on Monday.
The election officials, who are on a strict vigil, seized a Toyota Innova, in which Gowda was touring Mysore and Nanjangud town.
The JD(S) had obtained permission for the vehicle only in Mysore city, the officials said.
Deve Gowda, who was in Mysore to address a party workers meet, had visited Nanjangud to inaugurate the party office.
Election Officer Shantha Malleshappa seized the vehicle when Gowda was addressing the gathering around 5 pm.
An enraged Gowda said that the election code of conduct rules should also be applicable to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking to the media later, he said the officials should remember that they have seized a vehicle belonging to a former prime minister.
He said that he would not attempt to get back the vehicle.
He accused the officials of harassing and targeting them in the guise of election reforms. ‘’I will enquire about the seizure of the vehicle only after the elections,’’ he said.
The election officials had seized two vehicles belonging to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in Nanjangud on Sunday.
