Mangaluru: SAC holds interactive session on child sexual abuse

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 4: The final year students of the Department of Journalism, St Aloysius College held an awareness talk 'Let yourself be heard and you can be saved', a session on Child Sexual Abuse, for the students of class IV, St Aloysius College Higher Primary School, on Wednesday, August 2.

The session included a video that dealt with the topic in a comprehensive manner, and an interactive session for the students. The talk focused on the concept of 'good touch versus bad touch' and emphasized on honesty between a child and the parents.

The objective of the talk was to encourage students to speak out in case they faced such situations, to make them understand the sanctity of their body, and to respect each others as well.

The topic was of relevance due to the rising cases of child molestation and rape which lead to depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and propensity to further victimization in adulthood.

The talk’s sole purpose was to instill confidence in the students, so they speak up and be heard, and to convey that that they too are responsible towards the society in upholding moral values.
