Modi condoles ex-Minister Sanwar Lal Jat's demise


New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS): Former Union Minister Sanwar Lal Jat passed away here early on Wednesday at the age of 62. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the BJP MP's demise.

"Anguished by the demise of... Sanwar Lal Jat. This is a big loss for the BJP and the nation. My condolences," Modi tweeted.

The Prime Minister also said that Jat had worked extensively for the wellbeing of the villagers and farmers. "My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this sad hour."

Jat died at 6.15 a.m. at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here, after being in coma for more than a week.

The Rajasthan leader was Minister of State for Water Resources in the Narendra Modi government from November 8, 2014, to July 5, 2016.
