Mangaluru: St Aloysius Evening College to introduce diploma course in investment from Aug 17

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 11: What if I asked you to walk onto a cricket pitch, without any cricket gear except for a willow and face the likes of a Shoaib Akthar or Brett Lee bowling consistently over 150 kmph? I am sure you would not dream of doing it. But when it comes to personal finance, we do it on a daily basis without proper knowledge, experience and the risk management tools. Due to this, most of us have had at least one or more horrifying experiences in our financial lives. Few readers must be uttering to themselves, that they are happy with bank and post office deposits. But does it create wealth? I do not think so. Thanks to inflation and taxes that gobble up our meager returns.

To be successful at any field, including personal finance, we need to have the insights, knowledge and experience. Fortunately in our city, we have a course which is open to all and is organized by St Aloysius Evening College. The course covers almost every area of personal finance like personal investment and financial planning, Where to invest and where not to, stock markets, mutual funds, personal income tax, NRI investments and real estate. The faculty comprises of investment consultants, chartered accountants, legal advisors etc, who have decades of hands-on experience in their respective fields.

The course is not restricted to students alone, rather, people from all walks of life starting from entrepreneurs and bankers to doctors, homemakers, retirees etc, form part of it. To do this course one need not have finance or commerce background, all that is needed is keenness to learn and improve one's financial life. People having a phobia of math, need not worry because the world’s greatest investor ‘Warren Buffet’ is by our side; he says, “If calculus or algebra were required to be a great investor, I would have to go back to delivering newspapers.”

The institute conducts various other courses. Diploma in investment management, being the flagship course, is in its thirteenth year. The other certificate courses available are communication skills, photography, labour laws, real estate, insurance, entrepreneurship, goods and services tax etc.
