Mangaluru: St Agnes PU College holds ‘Swach Mangaluru Abhiyan’

Mangaluru, Aug 18: The NCC unit and the Cleanliness Committee of St Agnes PU College organised ‘Swach Mangaluru Abhiyan’ recently in and around Kadri Park here, in connection with the 71st Independence Day and also to inculcate the spirit of ‘Swach Bharath Mission’ among students.

MLA J R Lobo, the chief guest, addressed the students and Lobo insisted that they would not only keep their home and surroundings clean, but also their body and mind. He also added that today’s youth should focus on keeping our country clean in terms of corruption.

Mayor Kavitha Sanil motivated the students to begin by keeping their own houses clean first. She gave tips as to now to segregate the wet and dry garbage. She also appreciated the cleanliness task taken up by the students.

Sr Shamita, principal, St Agnes PU College, welcomed the dignitaries. Harshitha, a student of the college, compered the stage programme. The college president Stacey Giselle Coutinho thanked the dignitaries for their cooperation and support.

H R Naik, deputy director, department of Horticulture; Janaki Sadh, senior assistant director, department of Horticulture; Dr Ronald Fernandes, president, Press Club Mangaluru; Denis D’Silva and other media personnel were also present.

The staff members, cabinet members and all the volunteers worked in tandem and cleaned the deer park in Kadri efficiently.
