Sullia: Man drowns in Kumaradhara river when taking bath

Sullia, Sep 5: A youth who was taking bath in Kumaradhara river near Kudmaru, Bellare in the taluk, went missing. The incident happened on the evening of Sunday September 3.

The youth who drowned in this incident was Harishchandra (31),  son of Kariya from Ganjimath, Mangaluru taluk. He was working for an interlock factory owned by Chennappa Gowda located at Darkhasu in Kudmaru village. On Sunday evening, he approached the river for bath with his colleagues. After  jumping into the river, he reportedly got caught in whirlpool and disappeared.

 Police team from Bellare station, and fire personnel reached the spot and conducted search. The search operation was suspended at night and resumed on Monday morning. Diver Muhammed Bandar from Uppinangady joined hands with local divers in search operation. A team of divers from Tannirbavi, Mangaluru, also got involved with the task. The teams did not succeed in finding the body of the missing youth.
