Kuwait Selects 12 Singers for Gulf Voice of Mangalore Semi-finals

Kuwait, June 6: As a part of GULF VOICE OF MANGALORE reality Konkani Singing Competition ‘Youth Recreation Centre” (Rising Stars), Kuwait conducted auditions to select best 12 singers for semifinals scheduled on 16th October 2008.
The auditions and preliminary rounds of the contest were held on Friday, 6th June, 2008, at Avanthi Palace Restaurant Hall, Salmiya. 12 (Twelve) best singers were selected on this day by a local preliminary judging panel for the Semi-finals contest. Basic music with guitar was provided by the organizer for the participants who were not accompanied by their own guitarists.
The program started with welcome and small prayer by the compere of the event Roshan D’Silva. Kuwait’s well known personalities in music field Francis D’Souza and Joe D’Souza were the juries of the day. After the introduction of Juries competitions held with solo singing. The numbers were given by selecting in lots.
During the event the main organizers Lawrence Pinto and Louis Rodrigues were present. The whole event was captured by both still and video camera by www.daijiworld.com for record purpose.

The jury of judges (Wilfy Remimbus, Melwin Peris and Joel Pereira) will select 2 finalists from these 12 semi-finalists on 16th October 2008. These finalists will be competing for the Grand Finale along with 8 other finalists from Oman, UAE, Bahrain and Qatar which will be held on 17th October 2008.
The main concept of this show is to give a stage to Konkani singers residing in Gulf. There are many singing talents sprinkled all over GCC who do not get a right break to showcase their talent. This competition will open the doors to bring out their hidden talents.
