Panaji, Jun 8: In the wee hours on Sunday June 8, the retaining wall of a temporary structure came down crashing, battered by heavy rain that has been lashing the state. The wall at the construction site of a private company at Porvorim collapsed on a group of migrant labourers sleeping in the temporary structure, resulting in the death of five labourers and injury to six.

As soon as information about the tragedy reached them, fire brigade personnel and the additional collector rushed to the spot and arranged for necessary equipments and machinery for undertaking rescue and relief operations. The dead bodies were shifted to Goa Medical College for post mortem, while the injured have been admitted to the same hospital for treatment.
