Bangalore: Konkani Movie Finds Place in Limca Book of Records

Bangalore, Jun 11: In what can be seen as a harbinger of good news for the Konkani film industry, a Konkani movie has secured a mention in the ‘Limca Book of Records’.

Produced and directed by Ganesh Kini the movie titled ‘The Talking Tree’, is unique in that it has only inanimate protagonists. Human presence is totally absent from the film. 

The movie narrates the story of a tree spreading spiritual messages far and wide. The advice imparted is simple and practical —to cope with high stress levels, people have to find inner strength.

The lead actor is a tree which is a metaphor of the person watching it. The film portrays the realities in relationships seen in contemporary society. Being a multilingual movie, language is not a barrier for viewers. 

Another highlight of the film is the interesting commentaries on selected ‘subhashitas’ (inspirational quotes) which make it a must watch.

Hailing from a middle class family, Ganesh was born and brought up in the city. Armed with masters degrees in biotechnology as well as human resource management, Ganesh had a fascination for films early on and was a frequent visitor to film shoots going on in the city’s studios.

He even fulfilled his desire to act by bagging small roles in more than ten movies. Ganesh would excitedly rush to see himself on screen when the movies hit the theatres, but frequently it was difficult for him to spot himself in the scene!

Now, he has brought his creativity to fruition with his first movie and finding a place in the Limca book is in itself a major achievement.
