Goa Planning for Two Educational Estates

Margao, Jun 20: The Goa government has planned to build educational estates, one each in two districts. Both the estates would have different kinds of educational institutions, equipped with the facilities like hotels, malls and much more.

When contacted, Chairman of the Goa Education Development Corporation M K Shaikh, informed that the government has identified 40 Lakhs square metres of land in each of the two districts and is in the  process of acquiring the same.

He also informed, that the priliminary work of these estates would take more two years for completion. But the government will put all out efforts to ensure that they become a reality within a short time as it would benefit the region.

Most of the Goan students go to foreign countries and other states to pursue the education of their choice. If the field they desire is made available here, they would not have to leave the state for education purposes, Sheikh added.

We want Goan children to be well educated and wish they get their education in their homeland, he added.

He also revealed that some institutions from foreign countries and India have approached the government to funcion in these estate. The government will thoroughly check their track record and recognitions and then only will go ahead, he explained

We want quality education, that's it, he stressed.

Although he refused to reveal the places where these two education estates will come up, Chief Minister Digamber Kamat in a function held at Mapusa, hinted that the estates will be set up in in Mapusa-North Goa and the second one in Margao-South Goa.
