Media Release
CANADA, July 2: A fund-raising dinner and dance programme was held on June 13, 2008 at Sagan Banquet Hall, Mississauga to help support a man named Lester D'Silva who suffers from cancer.
Wilfred Rasquinha and Tanveer Joseph, two of Lester's close colleagues, organized the event along with other members of the wonderful team at Canadian Tyre Company. Jeff Woodcraft, the company director, showed the company's ongoing support for good causes by attending the event. He was highly impressed by how well the event was organized.
Around five hundred people gathered that night to participate in the event's main theme, 'Give to Give Hope'. The MCs, Shalom Rasquinha and Anson Alfonso, created a fun-filled environment for all the guests. Furthermore, the guests enjoyed performances from talented young students from Father Michael Goetz as well as a professional dance group known as the Baby Boyz. The night was filled with entertainment from live band music to live DJ.
The vast amount of money that was collected came primarily from ticket sales and raffle draws. There were many exciting giveaways, including a PlayStation 3, BBQ set, Nintendo Wii, and much more.
This fund raising event proved that it is possible to make a difference in someone's life. Lester D'Silva was extremely thankful to all those who came forward to support his family at such a crucial juncture. Most importantly, the fund raising dinner and dance gave hope to Lester's family. The organizers feel proud and happy to have been able to help those in crisis. Wilfred Rasquinha has thanked all the sponsors and supporters who made the event possible.
