Bengaluru, Dec 2: Even as the crucial assembly polls in Karnataka are at least five months away, the three major political parties – ruling Congress, opposition BJP and JD(S) – have already hit the campaign trail and have escalated the political temperature by attacking each other.
Taking the political slugfest to new levels, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Dr G Parameshwara took on both BJP and JD(S) and attacked them for copying its style of political campaigning.
"The JD(S) has launched “Mane Manege Kumaranna” while the BJP launched ‘Mane Manege BJP and this is nothing but copying the Congress campaign of Mane Manege Congress," the KPCC Chief said.
He said that the Congress has its own programme and would not copy other parties’ programmes.
The KPCC had launched the “Mane Manege Congress” for enrolling new members and activate party workers at the booth level.
On allegations regarding alleged rigging of the process of organisational elections to favour Rahul Gandhi’s election as the party president, Dr Parameshsara said the party has its own system of election and it would be conducted in a transparent manner.
A total of 20 party leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Dr Parameshwara, Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge, senior leader C K Jaffer Sharief have proposed the name of Rahul Gandhi for the post of the president of the Congress.
Rahul Gandhi would file his nomination papers for the election to the Congress president’s post on December 4.
Dr Parameshwara and Siddaramaiah are expected to go to Delhi on Monday.
