Mangalore, Jul 22: The Konkani Sahitya Academy had introduced Konkani as third language in tune with the syllabus, for the sixth standard last year. For the year 2008-09 too, Konkani is being taught as a third language for the sixth and seventh standard students.
Konkani is being taught in Kannada script in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. Schools which want to teach Konkani in Devnagari script have been providing their students with Konkani text books free of cost. The Konkani text books for the sixth standard have already arrived and the ones for the seventh standard are expected to be received soon.
Teachers/schools that are interested in teaching Konkani for the sixth and seventh standards in Devnagari script may collect Konkani text books that are available with the Academy, duly furnishing details of such students.
