Panaji, Jul 23: Goa will host the Tri-continental Film Festival-2008 in Panaji between July 25 and July 30, officials stated.
The said festival is being organised in association with Goa International Centre, Moving Images Goa and Entertainment society of Goa, which has been hosting International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Officials added, that around 21 films from Asia, Africa and America will be screened during the festival.
"The theme of the festival is human right violations and all the films will be based on this theme," Gayatri Konkar, partner, Moving Images, told reporters here.
"A total 135 films were considered, of which selected 21 were chosen for being screened during the festival," she added.
The festival was held for the first time in Argentina in 2002 and thereafter shifted to various other places. "Last year, it was held in Goa and we are repeating it again with the participation of the Entertainment society of Goa," Konkar said.
The aim of this festival is to create human rights awareness amongst the ordinary citizens of the country, she stated.
